“Stockings for Soldiers Collection Drive”
Who: Illinois Jaycees
What: Collecting items to send overseas for our troops
Where: Bring your donations to the September GA Sept 10-12
Why: To show our troops how much they are appreciated by the Illinois Jaycees
How: Tell your members, tell your friends, tell your co-workers
I’m sure we can have a record breaking year. Please see the list below of suggested donation items and let me know if you have any questions!
- Christmas Candy, hard candy, gum
- Fruit Roll-ups, gummy bears, swedish fish, twizzlers
- Beef Slim-Jims, beef jerky
- Ramen soup, cup-o-soup
- Trail mix, granola bars, cereal bars, nuts
- crew socks, foot powder, hand and foot warmers
- Beanie babies, small stuffed animals, toys appropriate for age 3 and younger (no small parts to break/swallow)
- lip balm, body lotion, hand wipes, baby wipes
- paperback books, magazines (current within the last year), sudoku, crossword, word find
- canned fruit, canned tuna, chef-boyardee, small sizes of anything to eat
- hot drink mixes, individual flavored tea, lemonade or fruit punch packs
- music CDs, DVD movies, batteries
- travel size toiletries, razors, manicure sets
- Dominoes, dice, decks of playing cards, UNO
- Disposable cameras, international phone cards, stationary, pens
- Christmas Cards with a personal greeting
Donated items should be small, individually packaged if possible, and able to withstand the shipping process.
(Not accepted: soft foods/packages like tastycake, foods that easily melt like chocolate, glass containers, home-made foods, hard back books)
Just to add a bit of fun… there will be a “FABULOUS PRIZE” for the chapter with the most donations.
